Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific "Milwaukee Road" #261 is the only operational CMStP&P locomotive.

AboutEdit

The locomotive was built by the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) in 1944 to help the nearing-bankrupt Milwaukee Road. It's performance helped the railroad enough to last. In 1954, the engine was retired and donated to the National Railroad Museum at Green Bay, Wisconsin.

In 1991, the engine was purchased from the museum and in 1993, the restoration was complete.

Today, the engine is undergoing inspection.
